Bubble tea, tea houses, Asian bakeries and dessert shops in this group are usually walk-in, counter-order businesses with a menu board overhead listing sweetness and ice levels you can adjust when ordering. Standard bubble tea customization includes sugar level (0-100%), ice level, and a choice of toppings like boba pearls, pudding or jelly, usually at a small extra charge. Asian bakeries sell items individually with tongs and a tray, cafeteria-style, rather than pre-boxed, and pastries are typically less sweet than Western bakery items. Lines build up quickly after school and in the evening, especially near colleges. Most of these businesses accept cards and mobile pay and skew younger in clientele and atmosphere.

Houston is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Traffic in Houston peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The items we bought here were well liked. The folks in the store there were quite helpful in finding the right products given some of the restrictions we mentioned to them.

I am beyond thrilled to have discovered Deluxe Bakery, a hidden gem in My Hoa shopping plaza! I rarely visit this area, but my Cantonese friend recommended this bakery, and it was absolutely worth the trip. Hands down, they have the best wife cookie in town! For those unfamiliar, the wife cookie is a traditional Cantonese treat, and Deluxe Bakeryβs version is exceptional. The filling is perfectly sweet with a silky, chewy textureβnot just a simple sugary flavor. It reminds me of a honey block but without being overly sweet. Itβs a beautiful balance of authenticity and indulgence. Another standout here is their massive buns, which are a fusion of authentic Cantonese or Vietnamese styles. Theyβre packed with meat, vegetables, sausage, and eggs, making each bite so flavorful and satisfying. The variety is impressive, and these buns are so filling that just a couple could make a meal. I havenβt tried everything they offer yet, but the ownerβs hospitality made the experience even better. She was incredibly friendly, patient, and happy to explain how they make their cookies and other items. Her modesty and warmth added a personal touch to the visit. I canβt wait to return and explore
